SP national general secretary Ramgopal Yadav made the announcement.
Akhilesh Yadav to be fielded in Karhal in Mainpuri: UP elections 2022
The Samajwadi Party (SP) has confirmed that party head Akhilesh Yadav will run in the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly election from Karhal in Mainpuri, putting to rest concerns about his candidacy. SP national general secretary Ramgopal Yadav made the announcement.
At a press conference attended by Akhilesh, Ramgopal Yadav remarked, "I am making a formal official announcement now. Our national president Akhilesh Yadav will contest the Karhal assembly constituency in Mainpuri, and he will win with massive mandate."
Akhilesh's first UP assembly election would be held from Karhal, according to SP national spokesperson Ashutosh Verma, who indicated that a formal announcement will be made later.
Meanwhile, if the SP wins power in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav made further pledges at a news conference.
He further said, "Samajwadi Party has taken more decisions for public after we made 300 units free power to domestic consumers or free laptops to students. SP will create 22 lakh direct employment in IT sector in UP in Samajwadi Party's Rozgaar Sankalp when the SP forms government in 2022.”
Praveen Singh Aron, a former member of Parliament from Bareilly, and Supriya Aron, the city's former mayor, have both joined the Samajwadi Party, according to him. Rita Singh, who left the Bharatiya Janata Party last month, is now a member of the SP.
Akhilesh Yadav offered to provide free electricity for watering farmer's farms during a news conference. The SP head promised to turn Lucknow into an IT powerhouse, creating 22 lakh jobs for the city's youth.
Those who join Akhilesh's party will run in the state elections, according to Akhilesh. Supriya Aron of Bareilly Cantonment and Rita Singh of Sandila have both announced their candidacies.
Since the announcement of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's candidacy for the assembly elections, there have been rumours that Akhilesh will run in the 2022 elections as well. Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav had previously served as members of parliament, but they had never run in an assembly election. When they became chief ministers, both followed the Vidhan Parishad route to the UP legislature. Akhilesh is now the Member of Parliament for Azamgarh.
Karhal will vote in the third phase of the seven-phased UP elections on February 20.
“In view of the elections, some decisions have been taken for the public. In which 300 units of free electricity, free electricity will be given for irrigation of farmer’s fields. If our government is formed, we will give employment to 22 lakh youth in the IT sector,” the minister said.
With one exception, Karhal has been a bastion of the Samajwadi Party since 1993. The BJP won the seat in the 2002 election. Sobaran Singh Yadav, the current MLA of Karhal, was a member of the BJP when he won the seat in 2002. He has been contesting from the SP ticket position since 2007.
When Yadav became Uttar Pradesh's chief minister in 2012, he went via the Legislative Council. The Karhal Assembly Constituency is one of the 403 constituencies in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, and one of the five in the Mainpuri district (Lok Sabha constituency).
Yadav is now the Member of Parliament for Azamgarh in the Lok Sabha. Beginning February 10, elections to the 403 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will be contested in seven phases. In Uttar Pradesh, voting will take place in seven rounds on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, and March 3 and 7. The results of the election will be announced on March 10.
